About me

My name is Milada Cogginsová Zajíčková. I am a freelance translator and interpreter based in Oxfordshire and can travel across the UK and Europe.
I work with the language pairs English – Czech and English – Slovak. I have been providing interpreting services for Czech and Slovak speakers for over 25 years, since 2001.

I am a qualified interpreter and a member of the Institute of Translation and Interpreting (ITI). I pride myself on being professional, approachable and reliable.

Interpreting Services

I offer Consecutive / Ad-Hoc Interpreting at face-to-face meetings as well as remote interpreting over the telephone, WhatsApp or other online platforms.
I also offer simultaneous interpreting in conference settings or simultaneous interpreting carried out remotely via online platforms such as MS Teams, Zoom or Interprefy.

My Interpreting Experience

I have extensive experience interpreting for Czech and Slovak speakers across a wide range of professional, legal and public service settings, often working in complex and high-pressure environments where accuracy and clarity are essential.

I provided interpreting at business meetings, company training sessions, court hearings, legal consultations and medical appointments, providing clear and accurate communication between all parties involved.

I have experience in consecutive interpreting during high-level meetings, including interpreting for government officials, such as Czech senators, during their official three-day visit to the UK, with meetings held at the House of Lords, the Ministry of Transport, DEFRA, and the Royal Agricultural College in Cirencester.
I interpreted during business negotiations between manufacturers, suppliers and commercial partners, including discussions on terms of representation, dealership agreements, and cross-border cooperation, both in person and over the telephone.
My work has included interpreting during specialist negotiations, such as discussions between a Czech manufacturer and a UK energy supplier regarding the supply of containers and packaging for the storage and transport of dangerous substances, as well as negotiations involving training providers and universities exploring possibilities of international cooperation.
I have experience in media and creative industries, including interpreting at film production meetings involving a film editor, music composer and Czech film director working on an animated film, as well as live interviews for YouTube podcasts, including a UK university interview with Czech public artist Kateřina Šedá discussing her international projects.
I provide legal and medico-legal interpreting, working with Czech and Slovak clients, solicitors, barristers, healthcare consultants, expert witnesses and occupational therapists, and assisting with witness statements and preparation for court hearings in cases of workplace injury or medical negligence claims.
I regularly interpret during health and safety training sessions on industrial sites, including manufacturing facilities, warehouses, distribution centres and breweries, ensuring that all safety procedures and technical processes are clearly understood.
My experience also includes interpreting during insurance claim investigations, where accuracy and attention to detail are critical.
I have extensive experience in court interpreting, covering family hearings, medico-legal disputes, traffic offences, criminal cases and sensitive matters such as sexual assault cases, always maintaining professionalism and confidentiality.
I have provided public service interpreting across the UK for a wide range of organisations, including local councils, social services, housing departments, Jobcentre and benefits offices, HMRC, police forces, courts, prison and probation services, healthcare providers, addiction treatment centres, charities supporting homeless individuals, and clinics.
I have completed over 1,500 hours of telephone interpreting for LanguageLine, handling a wide variety of situations requiring quick thinking and precise communication.
Earlier in my career (2006–2022), I provided public service interpreting and specialised interpreting for Peugeot Technical Helpdesk, supporting automotive technical problem-solving.
I have also interpreted at media conferences and public events, working with broadcasters and organisations involved in international sporting events held in London.
I have worked with a broad range of clients, including UK government organisations, courts, solicitors, healthcare providers, manufacturers, retailers and media companies, adapting my approach to suit each setting.
In addition, I have carried out both consecutive and simultaneous interpreting for EU institutions and international bodies, including the European Conservatives and Reformists (ECR), European Works Council and European Labour Authority (ELA), as well as for proceedings at the Royal Courts of Justice and the Commercial Court in London, and the International Centre for Settlement of Investment Disputes.
