What are translation memory tools?

Translation memory software is the most commonly used translation aid and has proved useful especially on documents which are regularly revised, or which are produced in related sets (for example questionnaires which are re-used on an annual basis, with minor changes to the contents of the text; also, company documentation such as training manuals or documents with lots of repetition in the text).

I work with Trados and SDLX - versions 2006 Professional.
