Why use my services?

Peace of mindTime is money.  Arranging meetings with your business partners or colleagues takes time and money.  If you want to make sure that you will all make the most of your time in meetings where not all participants speak perfect English at a level that would enable them to understand 100% of everything that is being discussed, or express clearly what they  want to say, using the services of a good interpreter can be priceless.

Remove the danger of a language barrier – Clear communication is absolutely crucial if people want to have a positive relationship.   Sometimes fail to attend court hearings or post important documents because the English speaker assumed that they understood that it is required of them, but they did not. Although many foreign people have sufficient knowledge of English to be able to get by in day-to-day situations, they often find it a struggle to understand legal, business, highly technical or other specialised terminology.  Non-English speakers always appreciate having an interpreter when dealing with solicitors, police, courts, medical consultants or in business context in situations where it is important to pay attention to every small detail.

Save moneyI am a freelance interpreter and if you book my interpreting services directly, you can save yourself a great deal of money.  It is common practice for translation agencies to charge the client 40 – 50% extra on top of what the interpreter charges.

Save timeBecause I am a freelance interpreter - not an agency - it means that you will be able to communicate with me directly, arrange with me all the details of the interpreting assignment easily and give me any background information about the situation in which I will be interpreting for you so that I will be well prepared and able to help you achieve the desired outcome.

 Why choose me?

Proven track record – I have been providing interpreting services since 2001 and have a long list of satisfied clients.  I have a rich experience of interpreting in a wide range of situations for business clients, academic institutions, government organisations and private individuals

Excellent knowledge of both Czech and English language and also Slovak – Czech language is my mother tongue and I keep up to date with the contemporary Czech language and current affairs in the Czech Republic.  Because I grew up in the former Czechoslovakia, I understand spoken Slovak and also interpret for Slovak speakers.  The Czech and Slovak languages are very similar and Czech and Slovak people can understand each other perfectly well without any difficulties.

English is my habitual language since 1997.

Practical knowledge of legal terminology and procedures –  Having previously worked as a legal secretary for two UK based law firms and having qualified as a paralegal, I feel confident interpreting in situations where business and legal matters need to be discussed.  I have a good understanding and experience of the English legal system and business practice.

Focused on facilitating clear communication – By working for many clients and interpreting in a wide range of different situations I learned to listen out carefully for what message each party wants to communicate and what goal they are trying to achieve in their meeting or during a telephone conversation.  Some of my clients regularly ask me to make a telephone call on their behalf, write letters or emails to their business partners, prospective customers or government authorities.

Professional Qualifications - Diploma in Public Service Interpreting (DPSI) and Para-legal training – I passed the DPSI examination in 2002 and since then have done over 1500 hours of interpreting for public service clients.

Membership of a professional organisation - I have professional membership of an internationally recognised British linguistic organisation The Institute of Translation and Interpreting and adhere to their code of conduct. I am in the process of renewing my membership with the National Register of Public Service Interpreters.

 Charging rates for Czech Interpreting

If you would like to book me for a face-to-face interpreting session, please tell me the exact address of the place where the meeting would take place so that I can plan the journey and  consider travel time.

For face-to-face interpreting I charge a flat fee per day or per ½ day, plus travelling expenses. Again, I do not have fixed charging rates and I agree the prices with my clients for every individual assignment.

The cheaper option is interpreting over the telephone or Skype, for which I charge per hour.
