Czech Interpreting over telephone and skype for Tableau Products - Case Study

Czech Interpreting and translation of business communications for UK manufacturer and Czech distributor  (Skype, telephone, emails)

My work for RPM Marketing (Sussex), distributors of Tableau cleaning products, started with interpreting on a telephone conference call. Mark Scheldt, of RPM Marketing and Hana Šináglová, the owner of the Pohodlnější život s.r.o. Czech company specialising in Cleaning and housekeeping services, needed to discuss the details of their cooperation with regards to distribution of Tableau products in the Czech and Slovak market. The telephone call lasted over two hours covering many areas -  Prices and discounts, placing orders for goods and shipping arrangements to the Czech Republic, translation of data sheets and packaging labels that must comply with various Czech and EU regulations, assistance with marketing – provision of materials such as web pages, product brochures and product photographs for an on-line advertising campaign in S-klick on the Czech internet server Seznam, registration of a web domain name for the Czech market, localisation of the new website for the use of Czech customers.

Arranging a date and time for a telephone conference with the assistance of a Czech interpreter was certainly much cheaper than if they had to arrange a face to face meeting with an interpreter present, but the effect was the same.

This telephone call was followed up later by an exchange of emails, which were always promptly translated for them.

In this modern era, people can find many free translation tools on the Internet, and those translations are excellent  for getting the gist of the content of a website or an article, but they are far from ideal for the translation of business communications, where both parties need to be absolutely clear about what their obligations are and how and when things need to be done.

What my clients said about using my services:

“Before Mark found Milada we had one face to face meeting with the assistance of an interpreter. After that we were exchanging emails, but that was at times quite frustrating because Mark does not speak any Czech and my English is limited and I was using Google translate for translation of my messages to Mark into English and then also for translation of his emails to me into Czech. When I saw that the internet translations into Czech were often confusing and mangled up, I was concerned that my messages translated into English might not make any sense to Mark. When Milada started interpreting for us over the phone and also started translating all the emails for us, it was a huge relief. It was suddenly easier to know where we stood and we could then concentrate on building up our future cooperation.”

I was very excited when we were approached by a Czech specialist cleaning company with the proposal of distribution of Tableau cleaning products in the Czech Republic. But as with any other business partnerships, we needed to work on the fine details of our cooperation before we were able to sign our agreement for exclusive representation in the Czech market. I saw fairly soon that all this work would be much easier and quicker with the help of a professional interpreter. I found Milada on Google, called her and explained what I needed to discuss with Hana. With Milada's help we managed to clarify many things very quickly.  She always translated the email messages promptly between Hana and myself. Over the last couple of months Milada got to know quite a lot about our business and it is almost like having a new member of staff but without her being on our payroll.”
